For Australian operations

Hobby farm management software, free for small-acreage Australia.

Built for the 5-50 acre block: a handful of chooks, a few alpacas, a couple of milking goats, the kelpie, the orchard, the veggie patch and the kids' show calves. One app, one screen, every record. Free forever for hobby farms.

Why farmers choose PaddockMateIQ

Most farm software is built for commercial scale and priced accordingly. Hobby farms get the worst of both worlds: too small to justify Practical Systems, too big to remember everything in your head. PaddockMateIQ was built explicitly for the small-acreage block — alpaca dam paperwork, chook vaccination schedules, the orchard pruning roster, the kid's pony's chiropractic visits, the beehives down the back. All in one place. Free for hobby farms forever.

Every animal you care for, in one app. Pet dogs and cats. The alpacas you keep for guard duty. The few sheep your neighbour gave you. Hens, ducks, the goose that hates you. The horses. The agistment cow. PaddockMateIQ doesn't care about species count — log what you've got, schedule the worming and the vaccinations, and the platform reminds you when each animal is due.

The whole property, not just the livestock. Garden beds with planting dates and harvests. Orchard trees with pruning and spraying history. Beehives. Paddocks with rotation tracking. Rainfall log. Dam levels. Property markers on a Leaflet map (water trough, gate, fallen fence). It's the whole hobby farm picture, not just the animal side.

Genuinely free for hobby farms. Not a 30-day trial. Not a freemium with limits. Every feature works on the free tier. The Plus tier ($32.95/mo) adds worker management, induction-tracking and forward sales contracts — features for farms with paid staff, not the 10-acre block.

What you get

Pets + livestock in one

Dogs, cats, chickens, alpacas, llamas, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, cattle, rabbits, ducks, geese, pigs — all supported with species-specific gestation tables for breeding.

Veggie garden + orchard

Garden beds with planting dates, varieties and harvest weights. Orchard trees with pruning, spraying and pick records. Optional — turn them off if you don't grow anything.

Beehives

Apiary site registration (with state-specific registry tracking), hive inspections, queens and honey harvests. Even one or two hives benefit from the inspection history.

Reminders that actually fire

Worming, vaccinations, hoof trims, shearing, drench, vet checks, dam flush, fence repair, mower service. Push notifications, email, even SMS via Twilio when you set it up.

AI vet assistant

Take a photo of a sick chicken, an off-colour alpaca, a wound on the kelpie. The Gemini-powered AI offers triage suggestions. Not a replacement for a vet — but useful at 11pm when you need to decide if it can wait until morning.

Property mapping

Draw paddock boundaries on a Leaflet map. Mark hazards (electric fence, snake-prone area), infrastructure (water troughs, gates), and exclusion zones (spray buffer near the dam).

How it works

  1. Add what you've got

Property first. Then paddocks. Then animals — pets, livestock, the lot. Then garden beds, fruit trees, beehives if you have them. Five minutes of setup gets the whole block in the app.

  2. Set reminders that match your rhythm

Annual booster shots. Twice-yearly worm-paste. Daily watering during summer. The platform takes a one-line description plus a date and fires reminders at you forever.

  3. Pull it up when you need it

At the vet's office — full health history on your phone. At the feed store — current animal counts so you don't over-order. Selling some lambs — instant herd register and NVD if you have a PIC.

Common questions

Is the free tier really free?

Yes. Every feature works on the free tier today. Unlimited animals, unlimited paddocks, unlimited reminders. No upsells, no feature gates, no "upgrade to continue" pop-ups. The Plus tier is for farms with paid workers and adds features hobby farms don't need (worker training register, forward sales contracts, daily digest emails).

Do I need a PIC if I'm just a hobby farmer?

Depends on what you have and where. If you've got even one cow, pig, sheep, goat, alpaca or deer in most states you need a PIC (Property Identification Code). Free to apply for from your state government. PaddockMateIQ records work whether you have one or not — but you'll need one for legal off-property movements.

Will it work for someone who only has chickens?

Yes. Many of our hobby users only have backyard poultry. Track flock size, vaccinations (Newcastle, Marek's, infectious bronchitis), egg counts if you want, and reminders for coop maintenance. Plus the AI vet assistant for when something looks off.

Can I share access with my partner / housemate / family?

Yes. Add helpers and viewers to your property. They get their own logins with appropriate permissions — they can view records, add reminders, log treatments. You stay the owner. Free.

What about Australian Bushfire / Flood preparedness?

The property map supports hazard zones (fire-prone, flood-prone, exclusion). Emergency contacts are kept per worker (or family member). The AI emergency triage mode and the SOS button on the dashboard are designed for the moment when something has gone seriously wrong.

Does it work for raw-milk shares or agistment situations?

Yes. Properties can be shared between owners with role-based access (helper, viewer). Useful for raw-milk co-ops or when you've got someone else agisting on your block. Each party sees what they need to see without seeing each other's private records.
